OVERVIEW
The Sacred Valley Tour is a specially designed to take in the best of the Sacred Valley, including the archeological sites of Chinchero, Ollantaytambo, Moray, and the Maras Salt Mines and Pisac. The Sacred Valley of the Incas is located between Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We will travel through the mountains of the Sacred Valley, which had an important part in Inca culture and history, on our excursion. The Valley has a milder climate and is lower in elevation than Cusco. You’ll pass through gorgeous communities, historic Inca terraces, and the most significant archeological sites.
DEtailed itinerary
At 8 a.m., our guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel. We’ll start our journey to the Sacred Valley, we will stop along the trip at El Mirador de Taray (viewpoint) to enjoy a spectacular view of the entire Sacred Valley and begin to learn about Inca history. The Sacred Valley was an important Inca residential region. The valley’s climate supports fertile plains, allowing for abundant development, which is unique for the high Andes. We will then drive to the Pisac ruins, you will visit and learn about various parts of Inca civilization at these ruins. The incredible artwork engraved into the stone and the stunning agricultural terraces can be found here. After exploring this gorgeous location, we will return to Pisac to visit the amazing artisanal market! You will have free time in the market to roam around and do some shopping.
Following that, we will continue our journey to the district of Maras – Moray. The Incas built three amphitheater-like terraces in Moray. These terraces, carved deep into the earth in the shape of a basin. After visiting Moray, you will travel 2 miles to the Maras Salt Mines. Maras was known as a salt-producing center during colonial times, then we’ll continue our journey to the province of Urubamba.
We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Urubamba, we’ll continue our adventure in the Valley after lunch. We will travel along the Urubamba River towards Ollantaytambo. This site displays the incredible Inca architecture of the Incas. In addition to the ruins, then we’ll head back to Cusco.
