OVERVIEW
The Lares trek is a trek with medium difficulty, during the trek you will be able to enjoy the Andean landscapes and mountains, and if we have luck will be able to see some Vizcachas, we will pass by some local communities where you can see how people live in this area in houses made by stones and straw, you will be able to know the best of andes to finally arrive to Machu Picchu that offer the best vestiges of the Inca architecture.
Detailed itinerary
1st Day: Cusco – Lares – Huacahuasi
We will pick up from your hotel at 5:30 hrs to begin our travel to Machupicchu, the travel will be around 2 hours to arrive to Calca where you can buy some snacks or water, the we will continue to Lares that is a small town located at 2 hrs from Calca, this town has a relaxing hot springs of different temperatures that go from cold to hot water, we will take the lunch here.
after the lunch we will continue, we will walk for some hours to arrive to the 1st campsite located in Huacawasi.
2nd Day: Huacawasi – Ipsaycocha – Patacancha
This day we will wake up early in the morning and after the breakfast, we will begin the trek, today we will walk for around 4 hrs to arrive the Pass to the Ipsaycocha Lake, we will take the lunch near to the lake we will have spectacular views from the nature and the lake, then we will continue for 3 hrs to arrive to Patacancha that will be the place for our campsite.
3rd Day: Patacancha – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
After the breakfast we Will begin our 3rd day of trekking for the Patacancha Valley, transportation will carry us to Pumamarka located at 30 min from Patacancha, here we can see inca terraces surrounded by andean landscapes, then we will continue walkind down to arrive to Ollantaytambo the Inca town that still keep some parts of the Inca arquitecture, (houses, waterways and Inca Wall), we will walk around the town until the time for lunch,
After the lunch we need to stay in the train station to board the train that will carry us to Aguas Calientes, here you will stay in a hotel in the night we will go to a restaurant to have the dinner and if you wish you can go to the thermal water.
4th Day: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu
we must wake up at 5:30 am to take the breakfast, the we will go to the bus station to board a bus that will carry us to the Machupicchu Citadel located in the top part of the mountain, we will have 2 hours of guided tour, after this time you will have some free time to take pictures or go to the places you liked more, then we must meet in the entrance of Machupicchu to take the bus to return to Aguas calientes, where you will have time to take the lunch,
in the afternoon train will depart at 15:20 hrs remember that you must be here at least 30 min before the time in the ticket, you will travel for around 1hr 30 min, once you arrive to Ollantaytambo you need to board the transportation that will be waiting near to the train station, you will arrive to Cusco around 19:30 hrs.
